Since March of 1999, Mike "Van" Riper has been working almost exclusively in Java and XML. Most of that time has been spent developing web applications for various companies in Silicon Valley. He currently works as a Principal Engineer at Krillion in Mountain View, California. He is also the founder and one of the current co-leaders of the Silicon Valley Web Developer JUG. This JUG was formed in April of 2003 with an initial focus on web application development using the Struts open source web application framework. The group changed to a more general focus on J2EE web application development in 2004. The JUG is co-sponsored as a Java Web Developer BayCHI BOF.
