Bio

I am the project leader of Open Software Factory (OSF) on java.net . In OSF, we are developing tools and techniques for Model Driven Software Development. OSF development is sponsored by the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), of Thailand. I have been an adviser to SIPA in the areas of Open Source, emerging software technologies, and software development methodologies since mid 2004.

I have 24 years of experience as a software engineer, software architect, entrepreneur anid computer scientist. 18 of those 24 years were spent working in Silicon Valley. As a technical manager and architect, I have helped both large corporations and startups develop complex applications. As a software engineer, I have developed several commercial software products. As a computer scientist, I have published papers in major conferences and consulted with government and commercial research institutions.

I have been a principal consultant in several major projects with Fortune 500 companies, including Bank of America, J.P. Morgan, Informix, Ralph Lauren. GM Technology Center, Intel, NTT (Nippon Telephone & Telegraph), Nomura Securities, and Arthur Andersen (now Accenture) Advanced Technology Group.

From 1997-2000, I was Lead Technologist for Viant, a leading multinational web services firm with headquarters in Boston, Ma, USA. In 2000, Viant was listed on Business Week's "Info Tech 100"and Forbes top 20 “best-managed, fastest-growing tech companies.”

At Viant, I lead the development of a digital entertainment network for Ecast . The Ecast network of digital music and game devices is now deployed in over 10,000 bars and nightclubs across the USA. The Ecast devices provide users with a wide selection of music and interactive games via a touch sensitive UI. They also process credit card payment, accept bills and coins, and support infrared controls.

Also at Viant, I was a principal developer for the Sputnik7 project, the first interactive streaming music video station for the Internet. Sputnik7 won a 1999 NewMedia Invision Award of Excellence in Entertainment and the Gold Medal as top Streaming Media site. It was also nominated for a Debby in 2000 in the Entertainment category.

My experience with Object Oriented techniques and technologies goes back to 1984, where I worked for 10 years at a pioneering software tools company called IntelliCorp based in Silicon Valley. In the positions of Senior Software Engineer and Senior Scientist at IntelliCorp, I developed commercial development tools, consulted on customer application projects using our tools, and participated in R&D for our next generation tools. In 1994, IntelliCorp was one of the founding contributors to the UML standard that was adopted by the OMG. I am also an OMG certified UML Professional.

My first job experience was principal developer on a software editor/compiler/interpreter for CPM and MSDOS called Microsoft Lisp, which was released in 1983.
