The Source for Java Technology Collaboration

FeedPod is a Text-to-Speech podcasting server/feed reader based on Rome, Free-TTS and Tritonus MP3.

FeedPod is still in the incubator, but considered usable (by me) in it's current 0.2 release.

The current plan for FeedPod is to expand it into a larger Feed-As-Audio and Audio-Feed web-based reader and Podcasting client, by integrating smaller sub-projects.

The two current sub-projects include the base FeedPod Text-to-Speech system and a caching feed server/version converter for timed fetch of external feeds.

The next step is a web-based RSS aggregator built on ROME that will support:

  • Mozilla, Firefox and MSIE sidebar/explorerbar navigation
  • Shout/IceCast/ HTTP streaming of text news feeds, podcasts and audio-blogs as a playlist for the user.
  • Compilation of the above into a unified podcast feed for downloading to portable audio players
  • Auto-correction of ID3 tags for mis-configured feeds

More information available at the FeedPod site.
