Requests to Rename or Delete Javapedia pages, or edit the Home page

Initially we are restricting who can rename & delete pages and also edit the Javapedia Home page. We are doing this just to minimize the possible damage that malicious folks can cause. We might not need to do this, but want to play it safe initially.

If you want to be added to the list just contact someone in the JavapediaGroup, introduce yourself, and explain why you want to be able to rename and delete Javapedia pages. If you've already written several Javapedia pages then we'll be happy to add you.

Please list any pages that need to be renamed or deleted here (with a reason why):

• GoF to GangOfFour: better name?
• short to ShortPrimitive: using an all lowercase topic name doesn't work very well in the links. See my question in JavapediaGuidelines first.

• rename "Java Print Service" to "JavaPrintService". I am so used to Wikipedia these days that I forgot Javapedia doesn't use the same naming conventions for articles. -- Main.redwolf - 15 Dec 2003

  • good idea. Just added a link to Certification under Practice. There was already a link to ClassPath that was also under Practice. Do you think that it should be moved under Technology instead? -- RonGoldman

  • Yes indeed. The WebIndex pages are also broken. I have reported the problem to the website maintainers. -- RonGoldman
• I know Twiki is quite customizable. It would be very nice if we had a <java> ... </java> tags that did some basic colorizing. If nothing else the way ATCT did code is nice enough but it requires too much embeded html. Or something like the Beautifier plugin would work too.
• It would be nice if we could take advantage of the JavaDoc plugin so that we could conviently link to JavaDocs and when a new Java release was made you guys could update one config place and all JavaDoc links point to the latests generated JavaDocs.
• I think using the Spaced Wiki Word Plugin would be nice. If nothing else I think it would make the Javapedia more friendly to visitors who are not familar with the Wiki concept.
  • The additional plugin suggestions have been passed on to the O'Reilly folks maintaining the wiki. If other folks have thoughts on how useful the Spaced Wiki Word Plugin is please comment here.
• Moved discussion on policy on adding signatures to the JavapediaGuidelines page -- RonGoldman
