Apple Computer is a computer technologies company based in Cupertino, California. It is primarily known for its Macintosh computers.
Java is supported on Mac OS X as well as on Mac OS 9.x and earlier (also known as Classic Mac OS). For Classic Mac OS, MRJ can be used.
Apple also offers a commercial Java application server called WebObjects.

Java version 1.4.2 is wired into OS X. This means that executable .jar files start up pretty much instantaneously. Tiger (mac os version 10.4.1) does have a java 1.5 engine, but you have to dowmload it and it is not - as far as I can tell - wired into the OS in the same way that 1.4 is.
