JUG Introductions

  • Silicon Valley Web Developer JUG: Mike Van Riper will represent this JUG. The JUG was started in April of 2003. There are approximately 150 JUG members. Meetings are held roughly once a month at either Google or VeriSign in Mountain View, California. Our next meeting will be a live Java Posse podcast recording of a JavaOne Retrospective at VeriSign on Tuesday, May 15th.

  • Java Hellenic User Group: Paris Apostolopoulos will be the representative of this JUG. The Java Hellenic User Group was the first organized and live Java User Group in Greece.It was founded in 2003, by Paris Apostolopoulos and Panos Konstantinides. The JUG has a web portal-community and a real community which is consisted of 120 members.There is also a legal body supporting the whole initiative. The JUG organizes monthly regular meetings and 3 to 4 major mini tech days every year , hosting java champions and important java professionals. There are also activites like translating Java resources to the greek language and writting material (tutorials) for new Java Greek Developers.

  • Java User Group Cologne (JUGC): Michael Hüttermann will be the representative of this JUG. The JUGC was established about five years ago. It is a national and international well-known platform for knowledge- and experience exchange providing a regulars table once a month in a typical Cologne brewhouse, conference-like talks every six weeks, several mailing lists and a web site. Founder and leader of the JUGC is Sun Java Champion and java.net JUGs Community Leader Michael Hüttermann (the guy with the white shirt on the picture). The talks are visited by about 100 persons and are hosted in the University of Cologne. The JUG is known for regular visits of national and international Java Champions and other international well-known people.

  • NLJUG, Dutch Java User Group: Klaasjan Tukker will be the representative of this JUG, together with Bert Ertman and Hans Bossenbroek. These three guys are 75% of the official NLJUG-board. The NLJUG is known for its J-Spring and J-Fall conferences (attendance 600+ each). The NLJUG is a health JUG with over 2000 members in the Dutch Java community. The NLJUG is supported by over 30 businesspartners. These partners support the JUG with their network, content and also provides funding.

  • CordobaJug, Cordoba Java User Group: Julian de Anquin will be the representative of this JUG. The jug was established 4 months ago. A very little jug, but with a lot of wishes to grow as a comunity. The Jug has focused on contacting universities in order to support them in Spreading JAVA.

  • Java Web User Group (UK), JAVAWUG: Peter Pilgrim is the organiser, founder and leader of the JAVAWUG, which the based in London, England. The Java Web User Group is an official recognised Java User Group. We are a group of like-minded men and women who are interested in web and enterprise technology to do with the Java platform. The JAVAWUG meets approximately bimonthly throughout the year. We also publish video recordings of our meet ups a.k.a BOFs (Birds-of-a-Feather). We tend to get about 25 members attending each BOF. Peter Pilgrim is a Sun Java Champion and a specialist in Java EE software development design primarily for the investment banking sector in the City of Londons and the Docklands.   • Java.developpez.com V-JUG: Christophe Jollivet (on the left) will represent java.developpez.com at JUG Leaders BOF. java.developpez.com is the most viewed rubric of developpez.com which is a web portal for French speaking developers. Java rubric has 250 000 visitors per month, 45 forums, more than 200 tutorials, 14 blogs, 11 FAQS, and book reviews, videos, code samples... We are also planning to become a real JUG with meeting, and not only a virtual one.
