The short answer is TCP is normally good enough. If you're not implementing any sort of packet recieved acknowledgement system then UDP is probably easy enough. The minute you find yourself implementing any sort of guaranteed delivery or ordered delivery on UDP consider carefully whether you really need to and whether you're implement is really going to be better than TCP?
