3D Data Progressive Compression: Summer of code 2006 LG3D? proposal


Description

This idea is to solve the two challenges in the exhibition and publishing of huge 3D data:

(1)the rendering efficientcy of the client's graphics hardware. (2)the storage capacity limit of the local machine and the bottleneck of network bandwidth. The work mainly focuses on the incorporation of geometry compression and data transmissin over the Internet in the web browser of the lg3d. The system will provide a high-efficient methods of compressing huge 3D data and progressive transmission it over the Internet without time-delay in the local web browser.
